Bandits take over Highway, burn vehicles, kidnap travelers in Kaduna
Bandits in fresh attract took over the Kaduna-Birnin-Gwari Road, Kaduna State, obstructing every vehicle on the highway. The bandits in their fury, burnt several vehicles, kidnap many travelers. About eight vehicles were said to be burnt by the bandits.
The bandits whisked the kidnapped travelers, said to be mostly women and children, to an unknown destination.
Chairman of a local group, Birnin Gwari Vanguards for Security and Good Governance, Ibrahim Nagwari, in a statement, acknowledged the bandits operations, saying that the bandits barricaded the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna Highway, intercepting convoy of vehicles accompanied by security escorts between Kuriga and Manini, near Udawa. The bandits, he said, took away several travelers into the bush.
The chairman fretted that the bandits may have had an alliance with Ansaru terrorists to declare war on the residents of Birnin-Gwari.
