Battle of Mallam Fatori heaviest in weeks; ISWAP/BH terrorists neutralised , federal troops die
The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) troops from Sector 3 Monguno (Nigeria), Operation Hadin Kari, and Sector 4 Diffa (Niger)joined forces to battle Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in in Mallam Fatori, Borno, around the Lake Chad.
The terrorists put up resistance really s they launchd mortars ad suiide bombers agaist the COIN forces.
But superior military forces eventually eliminated 22 of the terrorists while others fled.
No fewer than 10Tguntrucks, motorcycles and logistic bunkers were destroyed; 8 AK47 Rifles were recovered.
The military troops lost 6 soldiers, including two officers, from both countries; ad two from the Hadin Karin operatives.
A total of 17 fighters were arrested.
The MNJTF later cleared hideouts in and around Arege, Gashigar, Asaga, Kainoa, Bana, Kamagunma and others.
During debriefing at the MNJTF headquarters in Diffa, Niger, Force Commander (FC), Maj Gen Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim, hailed the troops.
Gen Ibrahim commended them for their courage and gallantry. He paid tribute to the fallen heroes.
