BREAKING: Buhari sets up team to negotiate with Twitter
Finally, President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a federal government’s team to engage with Twitter over the suspension of its operations in the country.
The president had said I an interview earlier that he would not disclose how long the platform suspension will last.
Leading the team is Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed, who announced the development on Tuesday.
Other members of the team are Attorney General of the Federation and Honourable Minister of Justice, Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Minister of Works and Housing, Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment and other relevant
government agencies.
The platform and Nigeria’s government got into hostilities following what the federal government termed Twitter’s double standards.
To restore the operations, Twitter has to register in Nigeria, pay taxes, among other conditions the team is bringing to the table.
