Buhari decides date for APC national convention
All is set for the national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the election of members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC). Meanwhile, the Progressives Governors Forum held its meeting on the convention on Monday, and President Muhammadu Buhari is being awaited to decide the date for the APC national convention.
The Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, who is Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, after the meeting of the APC governors in the early hours of Monday, disclosed in a media interaction that the governors will hold a meeting with President Buhari on a date for the party’s national convention.
The APC had zoned its national chairman to the North, leading to speculations that the ruling party had zoned the 2023 presidential ticket to the South.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had already conducted its national convention electing new NWC members to lead the party after the tenure of the current NWC elapses in December.
