The 19-year-old scored a sensational goal in Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to West Ham United on Sunday.
However, he was forced off later in the match after injuring his knee.
The former Aston Villa man has made an impressive start to the campaign and has been selected to start in both of Chelsea’s opening Premier League fixtures.
But the midfielder is now set for a stint on the sidelines after Chelsea confirmed Chukwuemeka underwent an operation on his knee.
Speaking on his Instagram, the midfielder set the surgery was a ‘minor setback’ and he will return ‘stronger’.
‘God I thank you for blessing me with my 1st goal for Chelsea,’ he wrote.
‘A moment I’ve prayed so hard for and dreamt of since I was a kid.
‘I know your plans for me are greater than my own. Nobody can stop what you have already written for me this season.
‘Minor setback but I will be back stronger than ever.
