Christmas: IGP orders tight security, felicitates with Nigerians

The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase has directed all the Commissioners of Police in all the states of the federation to supervise security deployments by ensuring a tight security across the country ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations.

In addition, he ordered that every vulnerable point like shopping malls, financial houses, places of worship, motor parks, recreations centres and other public places are adequately protected and secured to avoid ugly incidences capable of obstructing public peace and safety.

In a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole on Thursday in Abuja warned police officers to be discipline and comport themselves within the ambits of the law.

“They must be firm but polite, civil and professional in the discharge of their assigned roles, giving due regards and respect to the fundamental human rights of citizens at all times.

He reiterated that all the Assistant Inspector General of Police and Commissioners of police have been instructed to ensure peaceful Eid-el Maulad celebrations.

He congratulated all Christian/Moslem faithful on the occasion of Eid-el Maulad tasking them to imbibe peace while calling for sober reflection as well as the need to emulate the exemplary life of Jesus Christ.
