There have been emanating reports about Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly informing Manchester United of his desires to leave this summer after the 37-year-old made an emotional return to Old Trafford last year.

The Portuguese has since believed to have been attracting interests from some European giants with the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and even Barcelona touted to be the likely destination for the five-time Ballon d’Or Award winner as Ronaldo is believed to be keen on playing Champions League football this season.

And while Bayern Munich may have appeared to be the nearest option as their own legendary centre-forward, Robert Lewandowski, is keen to move on during this transfer window.

However, National Daily gathered that Kahn has poured cold water on the possibility of Ronaldo moving to the Bundesliga at this late stage in his career, paying the prolific striker a compliment, while saying he is not what they are looking for.

‘As much as I appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the greatest, a transfer would not fit into our philosophy,’ Kahn told German publication Kicker.

This may disappoint Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus who described the possibility of the Bavarians snapping up Ronaldo as ‘sexy’, although he too admitted that the forward may not be the right option.

Matthaus has been lyrical about Ronaldo’s potential move to Bayern speaking to Sky Germany: ‘Ronaldo to Bayern would be sexy! At least you should think through the options and play through them once.

‘If Bayern are of the opinion that Cristiano Ronaldo is still physically able to really help for a year or two and that they can invest the transfer fee generated for Robert Lewandowski more or less like-for-like in the Portuguese megastar, I would think about it.

‘Of course, that would not be a transfer with a view to the future. He’s 37 and would always make headlines.

‘I’m also not sure if he fits into Bayern Munich’s system. But he’s still an outstanding goal-scorer. He’s one of the best strikers of all time and would certainly score around 30 goals. Refinancing through jersey sales and the like would be guaranteed.’

Chelsea are currently the favourites to sign Ronaldo, if he is to leave Old Trafford this summer, with the other possible suitors seemingly melting away.
