Deaf, dumb boy stabs 60-year-old dead with broken bottle; police arrests mother
Godwin Ogbuefi, 17, is deaf, dumb, and blessed with a violent temper. His mother Mary, 35, is doting. Both passions turned their lives in a different direction during the week.
They could be recalling how it started and ended while they remain in the homicide department of the Ogun police command.
First, the bleeding neck of Madam Iyabo Olasehinde will remain clear in their memories. And Mary’s ears will tingle each time she hears the report of the 60-year-old’s death following the broken-bottle stab Godwin inflicted on the woman’s neck right on her premises.
According to a release by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the spokesman for the state command, Godwin wandered into Olasehinde compound at Omolara street Yakoyo that day, and she turned him back.
“On getting home, he informed his mother who then followed him to the said compound,” he said.
Mary took up the homeowner, demanding the reason she drove Godwin away.
“While that was going on, the son, who is deaf and dumb, took a broken bottle which he brought with him and used it to stab the deceased on her neck,” the police statement said.
The DPO, Ojodu Abiodun Area, SP Eyitayo Akinluwade mobilized his men and moved to the scene where they arrested the two suspects.
“The victim was rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment, but she was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty,” the PRO said.
The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
CP Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation.
