Ethnic politics: Ohanaeze replies Joe Igbokwe

The apex youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide–the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) says Joe Igbokwe had lost the history of Nigeria politics.

This is following the recent vituperative words by Jeo Igbokwe against Ndigbo during his TV program on Arise TV wherein he accused Ndigbo of involvement in ethnic politics.

Speaking with press men in Abuja, the Council’s President, Comrade. Igboayaka O Igboayaka stated that there’s no students in Nigeria, present and in the past that could accuse Ndigbo of engaging in ethnic politics.

Continuing, he recalled that, “NCNC one of the most popular parties in Africa and in Nigeria was a brainchild of Igbo political guru known as Dr. Nnamdi Benjamin Azikiwe (Zik of Afrika). But, unfortunately, Joe Igbokwe in a hast to satisfy Bola Tinubu lost touch of memory that NCNC was Pan-African party and a Nigeria party that spread across Nigeria; a foremost national party built with Nnamdi Benjamin Azikiwe ”.

Igboayaka without mincing words compelled Joe Igbokwe to “pick back history book and Secondary school Government textbook and study the role of Dr. Alex Ekwueme in building NPN, who was the vice president in NPN in such a national party.

“Yet even in 1982 when Ndigbo was in the Centre party of NPN, Dr. Samuel Mbakwe won in Imo State with the PPA. If another party wins Anambra guber election, it’s the same scenario in I982 when Dr. Alex Ekwueme became the Vice President of Nigeria in NPN, and Dr. Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe won Imo Governor with PPA in the same Igbo land”, he explained.

“In 2013/2014, political party merger, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, the current Minister of Science and Technology led his cream of political loyalists in Igbo land and across Nigeria and formed All Progress Congress (APC). The APC merge that brought President Mohammadu Buhari into power was also the effort of Sen. Rochas Okorocha who led his political bloc from Igbo land and across Nigeria and formed APC.

“Joe Igbokwe, a patient of mouth- diarrhea, and as the worst student of political History in Nigeria forgot that Gov. Chibuike Amaechi the current Minister of Transport and one of the smart Igbo Politicians from Ubima, River State led New PDP and formed APC.”

Comrade Igboayaka argued that the chronicle of history had defined Ndigbo as those that abhor ethnic politics, but he regretted that Joe Igbokwe’s political inefficiency coupled with his desperate quest for survival had blinded his mind from realizing glaring truths.

Furthermore, Igboayaka described as illogical, unreasonable and political predilection “for Joe Igbokwe to use Anambra guber election to attack the whole Igbo race, because he wants to project Bola Tinubu for president.
