Fresh PDP springs back, allies with CNM
The Fresh Peoples Democratic Party believed to have returned to the PDP might have left a splinter behind, which now poses a fresh problem for the PDP, and a likely bridge to the Coalition for Nigeria Movement.
The new faction of the fPDP has now set up a National Working Committee to manage its affairs.
The interim National Chairman of the faction, Obi-Nwosu Butches, said on Thursday his faction would organise an elective national convention after its membership registration.
Members of his group’s interim NWC members include Osukuade Sowemiko (deputy national chairman, South), Abubakar Muslim (deputy national chairman, North), Alhaji Gamawa Muhammad Ibrahim (secretary), Rodney Odili-Obi (organising secretary); Ambassador Waziri Umar (financial secretary), and Mr. Chidi Onwuekweikpe (legal adviser), among others.
“We promise His Excellency, Dr Olusegun Obasanjo and all lovers of our great party that the PDP will certainly turn out to be the much-needed pivot for the proposed coalition,” said Butches.
Obasanjo founded the CNM whose membership cuts across the PDP and the ruling APC.
Fresh Peoples Democratic Party sprang up during the leadership of Ali Modu Sheriff, and was reintegrated weeks ago under the chairmanship of Uche Secondus.
But the Fresh PDP faction that still sticks out says it was no part of the faction that returned recently.
