GOC 81 Division decorates newly promoted officers in Lagos

It was glamour, pomp and ceremony on Monday as the General Officer commanding (GOC), Maj Gen. Babatunde Oyefolu, 81 Division, Nigerian Army decorated 10 newly promoted officers with their new rank in Lagos.
While four Colonels were decorated with the rank of Brigadier General, six Lieutenant Colonels were decorated with their Colonel ranks.
Among the newly decorated Colonels to Brigadier Generals are John Agim, Idowu Akinlawon, Kayode Olaijide and Sunday Igbinomwanhia Uyigue.
Others promoted from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Colonels are Joseph Eduoku, Saqid Abubakar, Mairiga Gwom, Okhumedegbe Ejere, Garbage Abubakar and Julius Ogbobe.
Speaking at the decoration ceremony, held at the Officers Mess, Marina, Gen Adefolu, advised the promoted officers to continue to pray and work hard attributing their elevation to the hands of God.
He enjoined them to see promotion as a call for more critical roles in their career adding that to whom much is given, much is expected.
“Promotion comes from God alone so I urge you to work and pray harder. I want to urge you to continue to work hard and not be found wanting, ” he said.
In a chat with National Daily, one of the promoted one-general, Brig Gen Agim expressed gratitude to the army authority that found them worthy of the rank. He added that his elevation was an added impetus that would motivate him to perform optimally.
In attendance to grace the ceremony were the spouses of promoted officers who assisted the GOC to decorate their husbands, family members, friends and well-wishers of the promoted senior officers.
