GOCOP celebrates Femi Soneye’s 2025 Oil and Gas spokesperson award
The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has congratulated Mr. Femi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), on his remarkable recognition as the Spokesperson in the Oil and Gas Sector for 2025.
Mr. Soneye was honored with the prestigious award by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on Thursday, April 17, during a ceremony that celebrated excellence in strategic communication across key sectors.
In a congratulatory statement issued on Sunday, April 20, GOCOP President, Ms. Maureen Chigbo, praised Mr. Soneye’s outstanding achievement, describing it as a fitting testament to his unwavering professionalism, commitment to transparency, and dedication to effective public engagement.
“This recognition is a shining affirmation of your commitment to transparency, professionalism, and effectiveness in strategic communication of your company’s policies to its various publics in Nigeria’s vital oil and gas sector,” Ms. Chigbo said in the statement, which was signed by GOCOP’s Publicity Secretary, Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke.
Ms. Chigbo further noted that under Mr. Soneye’s leadership, the corporate communications strategy at NNPC Ltd has reached new heights, setting a standard for excellence and integrity in public communication within Nigeria’s energy industry.

She expressed particular pride in Mr. Soneye’s continued ties to GOCOP, highlighting that he remains a distinguished ambassador of the organization.
Before his appointment as NNPC Ltd’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr. Soneye was an active member of the Guild, making his recent success a source of collective pride for GOCOP’s 120-member body.
“Your achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a badge of honor for GOCOP as a whole. We are proud to celebrate with you and confident that your achievements will continue to inspire others within and beyond our organization,” Ms. Chigbo added.
She urged Mr. Soneye to continue his remarkable work in enhancing the public image of the national oil company, emphasizing that his contributions to corporate communication in Nigeria deserve all the accolades being accorded.
“GOCOP commends Mr. Soneye for his outstanding contribution to corporate communication in Nigeria and celebrates his well-deserved recognition. We are proud to have you as a member, and we pray for continued blessings of good health of mind and body as you serve the nation,” the statement concluded.
