Gunmen abduct travellers in border community between Ekiti, Ondo States
A yet-to-be-ascertained number of travellers have reportedly been kidnapped between Ekiti and Ondo States by some gunmen who laid siege on the road.
The incident reportedly happened on Thursday evening between Ikere Ekiti and Iju locations.
The victims were, according to several reports, traveling in two vehicles – a Toyota Corolla and a white Highlander when they were intercepted and marched into the bush.
A video of the incident circulating online showed how the hoodlums riddled the vehicles with bullets. As of the time of filing this report, it was not clear whether the kidnappers had contacted their family members for ransom.
Meanwhile, personnel of the Ondo State Amotekun and the Nigerian police, who were called for intervention, had already started tracking the kidnappers.
