A 33-year-old adult male, identified simply as Seun, has been crushed to death in a hit-and-run accident that occurred at Jakande, on the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos State.

National Daily gathered that the incident happened on Thursday afternoon.

A police source who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity on Sunday said Seun had parked his Lexus car by the expressway when a Honda vehicle suddenly hit it from the rear.

Seun was said to have immediately stepped out of the car and beckoned the yet-to-be-known driver to see the damage he had done to his vehicle.

According to the source, the driver of the Honda car, in an attempt to escape, drove towards Seun’s direction and crushed him in the process.

“A Honda Accord driven by one yet-to-be-known person hit a Lexus car belonging to one Seun where it was parked along the expressway. When the said Seun, owner of the Lexus car, asked the Honda driver to come down and see the damage he had caused to his car, he refused but instead, he used his car to knock Seun down and drove off,” the source said.

The source added that the driver of the Honda Accord, in an attempt to flee the scene of the accident, lost control of his car and ran into an electric pole in the Igbo Efon area of the community.

He was said to have abandoned his accident car in the middle of the road and fled.

Meanwhile, some police officers who arrived at the scene reportedly rushed the deceased victim to the hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

“Motor Transport Division immediately raced to the scene. Seun Sahola ‘m’ was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty,” the source disclosed.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.

Hundeyin said, “His corpse was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy, while the abandoned accident car is in police custody. Investigation is in progress to arrest the said driver.”
