How Mercedes-Benz mechanic was allegedly tricked into a deadly trap in Lagos [VIDEO]
A Mercedes-Benz mechanic identified as Samson has reportedly been killed in Abijo, Ibeju-Lekki, in what emerging accounts suggest was a retaliatory attack linked to the violent rivalry between the Neo Black Movement (NBM), popularly known as Aye, and the Eiye confraternity.
Information circulated by Naija Confra, a platform that monitors cult-related activities, identified Samson as the NBM member allegedly killed by the Eiye group in the latest incident.
The killing is reportedly connected to the September 9 death of an Eiye member identified as Ola Sheu, who was allegedly killed by NBM members around Adeba Bus Stop in the Lakowe area of Ibeju-Lekki.
According to the account, tensions between the rival groups had reportedly begun to ease before the killing of Sheu triggered renewed hostilities and a possible cycle of retaliation.
A mechanic allegedly targeted through a job request
Samson was described as a graduate and automobile mechanic who specializes in repairing Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
He reportedly operated a workshop around Warike Estate in Abijo but also travelled to other locations to provide automobile repair services. His clientele allegedly included celebrities and other prominent individuals, among them people said to have links with the NBM group.
The account claimed that many residents and customers did not know of his alleged affiliation with Aye until a photograph showing him wearing an NBM beret during his graduation surfaced on social media.
The photograph was reportedly shared to celebrate his birthday but allegedly exposed his identity to members of the rival group.

How the attack allegedly happened
In a particularly disturbing account, Samson was reportedly contacted to repair a Mercedes-Benz vehicle and persuaded to travel to a location in the Abijo area.
Rather than meeting a genuine customer, he was allegedly lured into a trap by suspected Eiye members. The account claimed that he was taken into a nearby bush and killed.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged deception, the precise location of the killing and the identities of those involved have not been independently established.
A pattern of retaliatory violence
The reported deaths of Samson and Sheu point to the dangers of the alleged cycle of reprisal attacks between rival confraternities in Ibeju-Lekki.
If the reported connection between the two killings is established, the incidents would illustrate how a single violent confrontation can trigger further attacks, placing not only suspected cult members but also residents and innocent business operators at risk.
Samson’s reported occupation as a mechanic also raises concerns about the vulnerability of people whose professional activities require them to travel to unfamiliar locations to attend to customers.
A request for vehicle repairs, which would ordinarily be part of routine commercial activity, allegedly became the means through which he was exposed to danger.
Police investigation and unanswered questions
Several critical issues remain unresolved, including the exact circumstances of Samson’s death, whether the September killing of Sheu was officially linked to NBM, and whether law enforcement authorities have identified or arrested suspects in either incident.
The claims currently circulating have not been independently verified, and no official police statement confirming the identities of the victims, the alleged perpetrators or the motive for the latest killing was provided in the account.
The Lagos State Police Command’s confirmation, alongside forensic and witness investigations, would be necessary to establish the facts and determine whether the two deaths were connected.
For residents of Abijo, Lakowe and neighbouring communities, the reported incidents reinforce concerns about the threat posed by cult-related violence and the need for sustained security operations to prevent further retaliatory killings
