I became APC Chairman to kick PDP out of power – Oshiomhole
The ousted national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, at the weekend berated critics over his APC membership, stating that his objective of becoming the APC national chairman was achieved, no matter what happened, thereafter. Oshiomhole at the fundraising and investiture for Victoria Unuoarumi as the 10th President of the Rotary Club of Maitama, Abuja, on Saturday, maintained that he is still relevant in the party without being APC chairman, declaring that he does not need to be chairman to remain relevant in the party. He stated that he became APC national chairman to chase the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) out of power, saying that he achieved that goal.
The former national chairman insisted that he is still active in the party’s activities, reiterating that he does not need to be chairman before playing relevant roles in the party.
The former Edo State Governor, however, stated that he did not join APC because of being national chairman.
According to Oshiomhole: “I’m still active in all APC activities, and I don’t think that I need to be a chairman to be relevant.
“I joined in order to form an alternative platform capable of kicking PDP out of power and that objective was achieved.
“It doesn’t matter the way things have gone. The primary purpose was not for me to be APC chairman.”
The former governor emphasized that he has no regrets over his removal as APC national chairman, adding that he has accepted all that happened in good faith.
