Ibadan student killed by police stray bullet on WAEC exam day
Eyewitnesses report a heartbreaking incident earlier today, Tuesday, May 20, 2025 along Gbagi Market Road in Ibadan, where a police officer, while attempting to shoot at a fleeing vehicle, mistakenly struck an innocent school student with a stray bullet.
The student was inside his father’s car at the time.
He was immediately rushed to Welfare Hospital but was declared dead on arrival (DOA).

According to reports, the student and his twin were on their way to write their WAEC examinations when the tragedy occurred.
In response, angry protesters carried the student’s body to the Oyo State Secretariat in Agodi to draw the attention of Governor Seyi Makinde and demand justice.
The incident has sparked outrage across the community, with calls for accountability and a thorough investigation into the conduct of the police officers involved.
