‘If someone says Ronaldo is better than Messi, don’t do business with them’ – Bovi
Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi has reignited the long-running debate over Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo after joking that people should avoid doing business with anyone who insists the Portuguese star is a better footballer than the Argentine legend.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, Bovi said a person’s opinion on the Messi-Ronaldo rivalry could reveal how they perceive reality, humorously suggesting it should be used as a test before entering into a business partnership.

According to the comedian, there is nothing wrong with preferring Ronaldo as a favourite player or even considering him the Greatest of All Time (GOAT). However, he argued that anyone who unequivocally claims Ronaldo is a better footballer than Messi should be viewed with caution.
“If you want to get into business with someone you don’t know so well and you’re going to invest your money together, ask the person who his favourite footballer is,” Bovi said.
“If he says Ronaldo, you might still want to do business with him. If he says Ronaldo is his GOAT, that’s perfectly okay. But ask him, between Ronaldo and Messi, who is the better footballer. If he says matter-of-factly that Ronaldo is a better footballer than Messi, pick up your shoes and run.”
Bovi argued that such a person may have a tendency to “alter reality” to suit personal beliefs, regardless of facts or evidence.
He added that people with that mindset could twist obvious truths to fit their own narratives, warning that the same approach could extend beyond football debates into business decisions.
The remarks have since generated reactions across social media, with football fans once again divided over the enduring rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo, widely regarded as two of the greatest players in the history of the game.
