I’m still fully in-charge – SWAN FCT Chairman
The Chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN), FCT Chapter, Comrade Ndubueze Chidoka, has called on members to remain calm over fake impeachment news making the rounds.
Chidoka who spoke in Abuja on Monday explained that as a professional body, FCT SWAN would continue to uphold the tenets of journalism practice and assured members that his administration would not tolerate any form of rascality.
The Chairman was reacting particularly to the non-statutory and unwarranted charade exhibited by three, out of eight executive members of Abuja SWAN during an exco meeting held today (Monday the 20th of May 2019) where the Vice Chairman was not in attendance.
The Chairman, however, wondered why a few persons apparently driven by selfish interests would stage a walk-out from the meeting and make frivolous claims, thereafter.
In line with the statutory provisions as contained in SWAN guidelines, the Chairman who is solely empowered to make pronouncement including convening congresses and exco meetings, enjoined members to disregard any unwarranted call for any gathering in the guise of FCT SWAN congress.
His words: “My resolve to lead my professional colleagues to meaningful ventures won’t be diverted for any personal misdemeanour”.
“I will continually discharge my duties as stated in SWAN statutes, just as the entire executive members carry on with progressive activities for the good of the entire association within the Nation’s capital.”
