Insecurity turbulence: Senator says Buhari is incompetent, as senate urge President to declare state of emergency
The Nigerian government is becoming unsettled daily by the incessant incidence of killing, kidnapping and other forms of crime in the country. Senator Bima Enagi from Niger State on Wednesday agitated that President Muhammadu Buhari is incompetent to handle the deteriorating insecurity crisis in the country.
The Senate joining the league of state actors being perturbed by the current level unsafe lives and property of citizens, on Wednesday demanded President Buhari to declare a state of emergency on security in the country.
Senator Sani Musa had raised a motion on the abduction of students from the Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State, seeking more effective security system in the country which led to the resolution of the senate.
Senator Bima Enagi from Niger State decried that the President has shown incompetence in tackling the deteriorating insecurity in the country. Senator Enagi advocated the amendment of the constitution to give governors more powers in relation to their status as the security officers in their states, insisting that the Federal government is incompetent in handling security.
Bandits on Wednesday invaded a Government Secondary School in Niger State and kidnapped many students and workers of the school. They were said to have shot sporadically, killing one student, and kidnapping many others in the operation.
