Jamie Redknapp criticizes Chelsea owner Todd Boehly’s transfer strategy
Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has criticized Chelsea owner Todd Boehly for his transfer strategy, which he believes is making life difficult for Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.
Redknapp’s comments come after Boehly was seen leaving Chelsea’s match against Manchester City early, a game which ended in a 2-0 defeat for the Blues with goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp said, “Maresca has to go back to training tomorrow and face a lot of unhappy players. Normally, you’d have 11 vs. 11 in training sessions, but with the number of players they have, many can’t even make that. It’s not right.”
Redknapp highlighted that successful Premier League teams usually operate with a squad of 24 to 25 players, questioning why Chelsea’s owners believe they can “reinvent football” with their current approach.
He added, “You’re making the manager’s job almost impossible with the squad they have.”
