Just in: Tajudeen Abass emerges Speaker of House of Reps
The preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, Hon Tajudeen Abbas, has emerged Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Tajudeen Abbas emerged Speaker after polling 353 votes out of the 359 votes cast.
Abbas was declared winner at exactly 11.44 am by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Sani Magaji Tambuwal.

The two other contestants for the race are immediate Deputy Speaker Hon Ahmed Wase and Aminu Jaji.
Before the election on the floor of the House the Clerk announced 359 lawmakers out of 360 were present for the election.
The open ballot system was adopted for the election.
Earlier on Tuesday Morning, Godswill Akpabio, the preferred candidate of the APC defeated Aziz Yari in the race for the Senate presidency.
He polled 63 votes to defeat is only rival, Aziz Yari who got 46 votes.
