Just in: Tanker explosion causes gridlock on Lagos-Ibadan expressway
A tanker laden with petroleum products had gone up in flames near Araromi town before the Shagamu interchange of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ogun State, causing serious traffic gridlock along the highway.
The Ogun state sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the crash occurred in the early hours of Thursday.
In a statement by the sector, the command advised the motoring public to make use of alternative routes to avoid unnecessary delay, adding that rescue operation is still on and people involved are yet to be confirmed because a bus is also involved.
“The crash scene has been cordoned off to avoid secondary crashes, traffic has been diverted. Motorists are advised to remain calm and cooperate with traffic managers managing the situation.
