Kadaria Ahmed under fire for attacking BBC over documentary on bandit warlords

The CEO of Radio Now 95.3FM Lagos, Kadaria Ahmed, faces intense fire on social media for attacking BBC over ‘The Bandit Warlords of Zamfara’ documentary, which she said is “irresponsible reporting”.

Ahmed, in an article on Thursday stated that the BBC Africa Eye could be charged as accomplice in supporting terrorism in Nigeria because it “provided” a platform for terrorists to express their extreme views.

Kadaria Ahmed in the article declared: “Journalists, and now a global media organisation of repute, the BBC, which should know better, are becoming a tool for terrorists, even if unwittingly, by amplifying the faces, voices and stories of killers and marauders who are still operating with impunity across Nigeria.

“The public interest argument seems to have been misunderstood, some may even say misrepresented, to enable sensationalist reporting that is very unlikely to be allowed on screens in the United Kingdom. By not upholding the same standards as they would in the UK, in their work in Nigeria, the BBC Africa Eye producers in their latest documentary titled ‘The Bandits Warlords of Zamfara’ have provided a global platform to terrorists and can be accused of becoming an accomplice to terror in the name of reporting it.”

Many have taken to twitter berating Kadaria Ahmed over her incorrect argument and evaluation of BBC.

One of the critics,  FS Yusuf @FS_Yusuf_wrote: “Is Kadaria pained that she didn’t get the opportunity to do the BBC documentary of terrorism in her state Zamfara? Why should she be pained sef? If it were GEJ time, she would have brought both BBC, CNN & Aljazeera to do it. Now it’s Buhari, she can’t find her microphone.”

Also,  Farooq Kperogi @farooqkperogi asserted: “Kadaria Ahmed’s anti-BBC Article a Disservice to Journalism. Kadaria Ahmed is my senior in the profession for whom I have tremendous respect not only because of her matchless brilliance but also because of the record she set at Bayero University’s Department of Mass Communication.”

Also,  Hausawa @Hausawa9 emphasized:  “After reading that long article by Kadaria Ahmed about BBC Eye on Africa program, you’ll agree with me that she’s doing everything possible to shield her clan from being named as Bandits. However, there’s many questions we need to ask ourselves.”

According to DISTINGUISHED Everest @novieverest, “Kadaria Ahmed is upset that her fellow journalists on BBC did a good job. Why do people who seem bright support this evil?”
