Kano govt locks up lawyer who helped Shekarau faction win APC congress
The lawyer who facilitated the victory of the Malam Ibrahim Shekarau faction of the APC in Kano was locked up in his chamber, on Wednesday.
Police and officials of the Kano State government stormed Jimoh’s chamber situated at 16c Murtala Mohammed Way in Kano, and locked down the building while Jimoh and his staff were inside.
But the Kano branch of the NBA protested, the police unlocked the building.
Jimoh confessed the state’s Ministry of Lands locked up the six-story building which has other offices apart from his.
At around 2:36pm, a team from Kano State Bureau of Land arrived and unlocked the compound. Its team leader Hassan Idris said they were instructed by the Permanent Secretary from the ministry to unlock the premises.
Similarly, the Kano Police Spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa who was at the scene, said he was there to confirm the involvement of police as the media reported and citizens confirmed the buildings were sealed by the Police.
But the police boss said he spoke to the Divisional Police Officer of the area who denied involvement of his men.
It however remains certain the Federal High Court in Abuja dissolved the excos of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s APC faction, and upheldg that of Shekarau.
