LASEMA boss reacts on protesting disengaged personnel

The Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) General Manager Mr Oke
Osanyintolu has disclosed that only insured personnel are qualified to
handle emergency situation, so adhoc volunteers have no business in
safety matters.

According to Osanyintolu safety practitioners are well equipped and
prepared for any eventualities in case of sudden happening that has
devastating effect, so untrained hands in emergency situation will
only translate to too much risk for the state.

The LASEMA boss while reacting to the recent protest staged by a
number of alleged 33 LASEMA adhoc volunteers for been unlawfully
disengaged.

“We have 125 staffers in LASEMA who are fully insured, I can’t work
with people that are not insured because they are not our staff.

“AVANTGARD are consultants who engaged them say they should go, so
there is no overlapping jobs for them.

” We don’t have anything called adhoc staff,the 33 adhoc volunteers
are not insured and we never employed them,then ask them what was
their mode of engagement.

“If there is any problem who will help them so I urge them to stop
risking their lives.

In another development,Hon. Omotayo Oduntan former Deputy Chief Whip
who represented Alimosho II constituency in the 8th Assembly at the
Lagos State House of Assembly,visited the Ijegun gas pipeline
explosion site for on spot assessment of the situation and lauded the
swift response of LASEMA urging the state government to sensitize
lagosians on the need to know who to call in case of emergency
situation.

It would be recalled that LASEMA was on hand early to respond to the
emergency fire accident situation that broke out at Ijegun on July
4,2019
