Late Ronke Shonde’s sister reveals what led to her death
Bolatito Bewaji, the only surviving child of the Bewaji family and sister to late Ronke Shonde, has reportedly said her sister was murdered by her husband because she found out he had fathered a child outside their marriage.
Bolatito said her sister was killed because of Lekan’s jealousy and insecurity. According to her, Ronke had endured a series of domestic abuse from her husband and had almost packed out of her matrimonial home sometime in December 2015. Ronke was said to have cited the children as her reason for continuing to stay in the marriage.
Bolatito also said a pastor and her landlady had intervened and the couple had ended up signing an undertaking at a police station that the family would not be involved in further disputes no matter what happened, a decision she said was insisted on by their mother.

Bolatito also said her sister had never cheated with her manager, and clarified that Lekan never bought her the two cars as he claimed. She said Ronke had been struggling to raise N70,000 just to change the gearbox of her car and used to sometimes ask her to assist her in paying her children’s school fees. Bolatito said Lekan used to fight with Ronke each time he checked her account and questioned her about who sent her money. According to reports, another source from the family said Ronke’s husband expected her to react to the news about his love child, and when she didn’t, he started monitoring her to find out if she was cheating on him or not. Here’s what he said below:
“Before she got her job, whenever she was going for an interview, he would commission a motorcyclist to trail her and check if she actually went for the interview or not. If she told him she was going to see a friend, he’d call that friend some minutes later and said he could not reach his wife on her phone and would like to talk to her through the friend’s phone, just to check if she was there. At a point, he started waiting for her at the gate at night to see who would drop her at the gate. It got to a point that he sent friendship request to all her male friends on Facebook and got their contacts and started calling and harassing them. The man is insecure and jealous.”
