Man allegedly beats wife to death in Edo, absconds with corpse
A tragic domestic incident has rocked the Ogbelaka community in Benin City, Edo State, as a man identified as Esosa Imasuen has reportedly beaten his wife, Chinwedu Nnadozie, to death following a heated dispute.
The disturbing event occurred on Oza Street, located in the Sakponba Road axis of the Edo State capital.
According to local sources, an argument between the couple escalated into physical violence, during which Imasuen allegedly assaulted his wife, a mother of three, inflicting severe injuries on her.
A family source revealed that Chinwedu was rushed to a hospital after the assault. Medical personnel who attended to her reportedly diagnosed her with internal bleeding resulting from the violent attack.
Despite efforts to save her, Chinwedu succumbed to her injuries before any surgical intervention could be carried out.
Her father, Everistus Nnadozie, expressed anguish over the incident, stating that he was informed about the assault only after his daughter had been taken to the hospital.

“They said he took her to the hospital where a doctor conducted some tests, and the result showed she had internal bleeding,” he recounted.
Mr. Nnadozie added that by the time he tried to see his daughter, she had already passed away, and her husband had allegedly taken her body to an undisclosed mortuary without the family’s knowledge.
“I went to his house, and they told me he had absconded,” he said, adding that repeated calls to Imasuen to disclose the location of the mortuary have gone unanswered.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command said that a search had been made across several police stations in Benin, but no formal report regarding the incident had been filed.
As of the time of filing this report, Imasuen remains at large, and efforts are ongoing to locate him. The grieving family is calling on authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure justice is served.
