Man arrested for stealing 21 pairs of shoes
A Kano Sharia Court in Fagge on Tuesday ordered that a 28-year-old man, Umar Dalha, for stealing 21 pairs of shoes worth N243,000 be remanded in a correctional centre.
The police charged the defendant, who resides in Kofar Ruwa Quarters, Kano, with theft.
He pleaded not guilty.
The Judge, Ismai’l Muhammad-Ahmed, adjourned the matter until Aug. 9 for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Abdul Wada told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 22 at Goron Dutse street, Kano.
He alleged that on the same date at 3p.m., the defendant trespassed into Gazali Sani-Abubakar’s shop and stole 21 pairs of shoes.
Wada said six pairs of shoes worth N54,000 were found in Dalha’s possession when he was arrested.
He noted that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 133 of the Kano State Sharia Law.
