Missing Lagos banker found dead in morgue with machete wounds
Tragedy has struck the family of 26-year-old Osemudiamen Idemudia, a Lagos-based banker who was declared missing earlier this month, as his lifeless body has been discovered in a morgue in the Yaba area of Lagos State.
Idemudia, who worked in the Point-of-Sale (PoS) department of a commercial bank located in the Ikota area of the state, was last seen on the evening of May 9 near CMS on Lagos Island.
His sudden disappearance prompted a desperate search by family and friends, who combed through hospitals and mortuaries across the city in the hope of finding him alive.
However, hopes were dashed on Sunday when his body was found in a Yaba mortuary. A family member, identified simply as Segun, confirmed the heartbreaking discovery and revealed that the young banker had been brutally murdered.
“We have found Osemudiamen’s body. He was murdered,” Segun said in a sorrowful tone. “We found the body on Sunday in a morgue at Yaba with machete cuts on his head, face, and legs. I’m so sad.”

The nature of the wounds, according to Segun, clearly indicated that Idemudia was the victim of a violent attack.
The family was informed by morgue staff that the corpse had been deposited by police officers, but frustratingly, no further information was provided.
“When we asked the mortuary staff where the body was brought from, they couldn’t tell us,” Segun explained. “They also said they didn’t have the identities of the police officers who brought in the body. That made the discovery even more complicated.”
The absence of detailed information surrounding the circumstances of Idemudia’s death and the lack of identification of the police officers involved in the body’s deposit have raised serious concerns for the family, who are now calling for a thorough investigation.
Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased were laid to rest on Tuesday, as grief and unanswered questions continue to plague his loved ones.
The Lagos State Police Command has yet to release an official statement on the incident. The family is urging authorities to launch an investigation to uncover the truth behind Osemudiamen Idemudia’s tragic death.
