NDLEA reacts to poisoning, arresting Mohbad
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has denied arresting or detaining Mohbad, the Nigerian singer who died on March 10, 2023, at the age of 27. The agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said in a statement that Mohbad was never in the agency’s custody.
Babafemi’s statement comes in response to allegations that Mohbad was poisoned by NDLEA operatives during a raid on his home. The allegations were made by Mohbad’s fans and colleagues on social media.
In the statement, Babafemi said that the NDLEA did not carry out any raid on Mohbad’s home. He also said that the agency has no record of arresting or detaining Mohbad.

Babafemi urged the public to disregard the allegations against the NDLEA. He said that the agency is committed to its mandate of combating drug trafficking and abuse in Nigeria.
The NDLEA’s denial of the allegations against it is likely to be met with skepticism by some. This is because the agency has been accused of human rights abuses in the past.
