Ned Nwoko behind Sowore’s arrest—Lawyer
Billionaire and former Sen. Ned Nwoko has started another legal tussle with Omoyele Sowore. The Sahara Reporters publisher has been arrested twice between Thursday and Friday.
Sowore lawyer Inibehe Effiong revealed this in a tweet Friday, after Sowore, whom he said he just got bail, was re-arrested as soon as they stepped out of court.
Effiong said his client was released on Thursday night, having being held at the facility of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in Abuja
According to Effiong on his social media handles, Sowore was arrested because of a frivolous petition by Nwoko.
“Omoyele Sowore has been released from the very notorious Abattoir (former Abuja SARS facility).
“He was arrested after we left the Court of Appeal over a frivolous petition by Ned Nwoko.
“I have been denied access to Omoyele Sowore at the Abattoir (former SARS facility in Abuja). This regime is dishonest. If you believe that SARS has ended you’re mistaken. It is still the same cycle of impunity and lawlessness.
“I just stepped out of the Court of Appeal in Abuja with Omoyele Sowore after our case only for the police to lay ambush and arrest him outside the Court.
“He has been taken away (presumably to former SARS Office in Abuja),” he wrote earlier.
