Story of pregnant woman who kidnapped herself, made her virtual lover pay millions in ransom, how she spent it

Jamila Ardo, 25, is pregnant, but that doesn’t dull her charms, even on social media. Which is why she pulled off a multi-million love scam, bought a house, and had no qualm about it.

The native of Wauru Jabbe, Yola South, met Adamu Ahmed living in FCT, Abuja, on Facebook sometime in 2021. And both hit it off.

Romance with a young pregnant woman meant so much to Ahmed, though he didn’t know his virtual lover was married, pregnant, and months gone.

They didn’t even bother to meet up.

All was sizzling until their love was tested the day Ardo got snatched, and Ahmed couldn’t bear it.

It was Abdulaziz, a friend of Ardo’s, who informed the Abuja man his lover was in the den of kidnappers, as court documents would later reveal.

During negotiation, Ahmed claimed he could hear Ado cry, and begging him to save her life. He couldn’t bear it.

The kidnappers asked for N2 million flat. Ahmed demanded their account number. They gave him Amina Mohammed’s.

And he pumped the millions into the account. Ardo was home and dry. And life was never the same again for her.

But later, Ahmed, in the court papers, said he felt something wasn’t right. How could he be sure since he never met Ardo until 2022.

And that was after she had become a home owner, lived large at Jabbe, and lied to her husband questioning her sudden wealth. She told him it was a lump-sum from some relatives.

But Ahmed couldn’t shake his doubt about the whole incident.

November 16, 2021, he filed a complaint at the State Investigation Bureau.

Amina Mohammed was the first suspect detectives arrested. And she told them Ardo got her account number to receive money from a friend.

Ardo is standing trial before Chief Magistrate Court I, Yola, on criminal conspiracy and kidnapping. That’s a breach of sections 60 and 248 of the Penal Code Law.

She pleaded not guilty.

Her lawyer C. Crowealth got her bail because of her state as a pregnant woman.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Abubakar Nurudeen, didn’t object, but asked Magistrate Abdullahi Digil to adjourn the case to enable the prosecution to forward the case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
