NUJ demands Buhari to order independent investigation into death of Vanguard Reporter
The Nigerian Union of Journalists on Friday demanded President Muhamamdu Buhari to order an independent investigation into the killing of a Vanguard Reporter, Tordue Salem, in Abuja,
The NUJ questioned the report from the Nigeria Police that the Vanguard Reported was killed by a hit and run cab driver.
The NUJ maintained that the suspect paraded by the police for the killing of Tordue Salem raises more questions, protesting that the claims of the police provided no clue to the killing of the Journalist in Abuja.
The NUJ demanded the leadership of the National Assembly to ensure justice is done in the circumstance of the death of the Vanguard Reporter.
Several Journalists went to the FCT NUJ Office at Utako, presented a letter, insisting that the killers of Tordue Salem be found and prosecuted.
The Vanguard Reporter’s last assignment was at the National Assembly penultimate week. He was then declared missing, and the case was repeated to the police.
