October 1: Army alerts residents of heavy military equipment movement into FCT
The Nigerian Army has alerted residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of heavy movement of military equipment into Abuja in preparation for Nigeria’s 61st Independence anniversary on Friday.
The Guards Brigade on Monday revealed that there will be movement of heavy military equipment into the Federal Capital Territory, FCT and its environs.
The spokesman of the Brigade, Captain Godfrey Abakpa, in a statement, indicated that the equipment will be used during the Independence Day celebrations on October 1.
Captain Godfrey Abakpa declared that “the general public is by this notice advised not to panic at the sight of the military equipment, which will be used solely for the Independence Day parade celebrations.”
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, had also issued a similar public notice to residents of the FCT.
