OSINACHI: What police said after arresting husband
Following public outrage after the death of gospel singer Osinanchi Nwachukwu at a hospital in Abuja, the FCT police command eventually arrested the husband, Peter Nwachukwu.
FCT police command on Sunday night confirmed the arrest.
“The man, Peter Nwachukwu is currently in our custody. A family member of the deceased lodged a report for culpable homicide at Lugbe police station,” police spokesman Josephine Adeh told the Daily Post.
“Following the complaint, we arrested the suspect and the investigation is currently ongoing. We will make findings public.”
There were initial speculations she died of throat cancer, but those in the know dismissed the rumour, and accused her husband of killer her.
It turned out the singer had been enduring an abusive marriage all along.
“The husband is nothing but a beast,” one of her friends said.
“He kept abusing this woman every time. When you don’t see her (Osinachi) in church, just know that something must have gone wrong.
It was the husband that kicked her in the chest, which landed her in hospital.
She died four days later.
