Our party must not be destroyed – Wike
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the just concluded presidential primary in Abuja, on Monday revealed how he restrained himself from obstructing the PDP national convention when he observed the guidelines for the convention had been contravened.
Governor Wike at a reception at the Government House, Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Monday after he returned from Abuja, disclosed how he resisted that temptation to scuttle the presidential primary election process when an aspirant who had already spoken on the podium was allowed to come to announce his withdrawal from the race, in contravention to the guidelines of the election. he said that he refrained himself because he did not want the PDP to be destroyed.
Wike stated: “I have never seen how people can violate procedures and guidelines. Somebody has spoken, it is at that point he was speaking that he would have said I am withdrawing. You don’t call him back,”
“I just said, Look, this our party must not be destroyed.”
The governor urged his supporters to remain calm, saying that his loss at the PDP presidential primary was the will of God. He, however, has the consolation that history has been made, and the south is not a pushover.
According to Wike, “It is God’s will, let us not bother ourselves so much.”
