Presidency 2023: Kwankwaso reveals plan to make Peter Obi his running mate in NNPP
Former Governor of Kano State, Engr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), on Monday revealed his intention to make Peter Obi his running mate in the NNPP before Obi, former running mate to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections, Atiku Abubakar, emerged the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
Kwankwaso stated that many people had advised that he picks Obi as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election, adding that he had occasions to discuss national issues with Peter Obi.
According to Kwankwaso, “Many people suggested that. I believe it could have been possible if not because he joined another party and now, he is already a candidate…”
“We look forward to seeing what happens in the next few days or weeks.”
Kwankwaso added: “Actually, we had the opportunity to talk to ourselves on many national issues until a few days to the time when he declared for the Labour Party of which now, he is the presidential candidate.”
Both Kwankwaso and Peter Obi had left the PDP for their present parties where they have emerged presidential candidates for the 2023 general elections.
Obi would have to puck his running mate from the north, while Kwankwaso would also need to pick his running mate from the south to offset the North/South dichotomy in Nigeria’s political equation.
