By Anuoluwa Amao
The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has mourned Oluwatosin Abidakun, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member killed in a truck crash in Ibadan on Monday.
Abidakun was reportedly riding home with another corps member when an articulated truck rammed into their motorcycle around Agodi Gardens, Ibadan North Local Government Area. She died at the scene, while the other corps member was taken to the University College Hospital for treatment.
Ogundoyin, in a statement on Tuesday, described her death as devastating, noting that she had only recently begun her national service. He extended his condolences to her family and colleagues and wished the survivor a speedy recovery.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the truck had hit several vehicles around Sango before proceeding to Agodi Gardens. One claimed the driver attempted to flee, prompting affected motorists to pursue him.
The Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Kehinde Dahunsi, confirmed the crash and the casualties.
