PDP Governorship Campaign DG escapes death in Abia, inflicted machete cuts
The Director General of the PDP Governorship candidate Campaign Organization in Abia State, southeast Nigeria, Chinedum Elechi, escaped death after an attack by a man who inflicted machete cuts on him in Umuahia. The attacker was said to be arrested by the police in Abia State.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, urged the police to conduct thorough investigation into the attack on the PDP campaign DG. He demanded the Commissioner of Police in Abia State to ensure that the suspect, currently in police custody, faces the full weight of the law.
Governor Ikpeazu commended the courage of members of the public and men of the Nigeria Police who joined forces to overpower the attacker and recovered the instrument of attack.
