Police arrest 17 cultists, recover arms, in Abuja
The Police in a patrol operation arrested 17 persons along Gwagwalada, Gwagwa, Lugbe, and Kurudma parts of Abuja for cultism.
The PPRO of the FCT Command, Mariam Yusuf, in a statement indicated that the suspects were arrested by the anti-cultism unit of the Command during raids and patrols between April 5 and 9th, 2021. She said that the arrested persons have confessed to being members of Vikings and Aro Baga confraternities troubling the neighbourhood.
The police authorities disclosed that locally made pistols, live ammunition, cartridges, knives chains, axes, cutlasses, wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and charms were recovered from the arrested persons.
The PPRO disclosed that all the suspects will be arraigned in court after investigations have been concluded.
