Police arrest lawyer who duhamanised wife in trending video

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one Barr Ekere Sunday Ebong, 55 years of plot 40 L line Ewet Housing estate.

In a video that went viral, the Suspect assaulted his wife, dehumanised her, leading to various grievous injuries. He is a known habitual perpetrator of violent acts against his wife over the years.

“As an Agency saddled with the protection of lives and property and maintenance of law and order, we cannot allow Barrister Ebong to continue this flagrant abuse of human rights, hence, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi ordered the arrest of the Suspect to prevent murder and breakdown of law and order.

“The CP has warned perpetrators of violent crimes in the State to desist forthwith while urging family members to endeavour to resolve disputes amicably rather than resorting to violent attacks.

In the trending video, Barr Ebong was punching his wife was naked. Immediately I approached him screaming at him to leave the woman alone, he came after me, asking what is my business.

According to an eyewitness, the lady escaped from the man when other people in the compound came out.

I called on my other neighbours to come out. Soon, the place was filled up with people from my compound and other home around, and with the distraction, the lady escaped from his grips with bl00d stains all over her body. Her lip was heavily breeding.”

“My landlady brought a wrapper for her to cover herself. The man was up and down bragging about how he would deal with her if she didn’t return to the house immediately, I asked him ‘for what? So you will continue the beating?’ He asked if I wanted her to sleep over at my place.

“Together with my neighbours, we helped her gain access into the house to pick up her phone by blocking him from entering to catch her again. He got mad at all of us but we stood firm and challenged him to try anything funny.

“The lady got her phone, took some shots of herself, and walked down to the police station barefooted to report. The husbandman has been arrested but I know nothing will be done to him… cos he brags
