Police, hunters kill two suspected kidnappers, rescue victims in Adamawa
Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have dislodged a criminal hideout and neutralized two suspected kidnappers in a gun duel.
The policemen, who worked with local hunters in Ganye Local Government Area of the state, rescued a man and young woman who were abducted by the suspects.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, January 22, said that operatives and hunters also recovered two fabricated rifles, chains, padlocks, charms and N72,000 cash from the suspects.
“On the 21/1/2022, the Command disconnect the criminal network connecting part of Gangtum District and Ganye. The operation , which was carried out by operatives of Ganye Division and the Hunters of Ganye at Shiga da Niya Hill situated at a remote side of Gangtum village in Ganye local government yielded positive result,” the statement reads.
“The outcome of these successes follow-up on cases bordering on kidnapping, armed robbery, Cattle rusttling, unlawful possession of firearms, amongst others.
“Two locally fabricated Guns were recovered after a Gun duel with the Notorious kidnappers and successfully rescued one *Abdullahi Buba,60 years and Halima Ishaku female 20years* all residents of Sulti luga Ibi village, Sugu district, Ganye local government who were kidnapped by the hoodlums on the 19/01/2022 and were taken to the hideout while negotiating for ransom.
“Two of the suspects were neutralized during the exchanged of fire while others escaped with bullet wounds,” the PPRO added.
