The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization, responding to the outburst of Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi Stated after he lost the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), berated the Ebonyi Governor, ridiculing him of being disgraced and scammed after his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. The group said that Umahi was deceived into defecting to APC with fake promise of the party’s presidential ticket, and has lost the opportunity to produce his successor.

The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, chided Governor Umahi that since the “disgraceful performance at the APC presidential primary election, he has been behaving and talking strangely.” He declared that “what he needs urgently now is an urgent psychological help because his woeful outing during the primary election has affected his reasoning.”

Okwu Nnabuike mocked the governor, saying: “Umahi was deceived into joining the APC, with a fake promise of a presidential ticket. They did not just scam him but have also denied him the opportunity to produce his successor.”

Governor Umahi only got 38 votes after he blackmailed the PDP of marginalizing the southeast and decamping to the APC where he envisaged justice and reward for the southeast. Unfortunately, the APC turned more disastrous to the Igbo nation, except for those holding ministerial appointment.

Governor Umahi has, however, denied reports that he directed the people of Ebonyi State not to vote for Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, nor the PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar, but vote for the APC candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide insisted that “Southeast governors sold the Igbo presidency project,” saying that they would get the reward at the appropriate time.

Okwu Nnabuike dated Umahi to “state in clear terms the efforts he made to galvanize the support of his colleague governors to the Igbo presidency project.”

He stated: “Whereas the Ohanaeze made all the regional organizations, including the Afenifere, the Middle-Belt Forum, the Niger-Delta Forum, among others, to support the Igbo cause, Umahi could not get the support of a single Governor. This goes to show that he is a paper tiger and must not be taken seriously.”
