Sowore returns to court, pleads not guilty’ to treasonable felony charges
Leader of the RevolutionNow Movement, Omoyele Sowore, on Thursday returned to court following the resumption of his trial on treasonable felony charges. Sowore and Olawale Bakare, co-defendant, at the resumed court sitting pleaded not guilty to two-count amended charges of felony and treasonable felony.
At the Thursday court proceedings, which had in attendance, Prof. Wole Soyinka. Sowore and Bakare had pleaded not guilty to two-count charges of conspiracy to commit treasonable felony.
The defence team led by Abdul Mahmud had opposed the readiness of the Prosecutor, Kayode Alilu, to proceed with the trial but to the commencement of the trial, arguing that the statement of witnesses is yet to be served on them.
The Prosecutor had earlier notified the court that the Federal Government has complied with the order of the court on payment of N200,000 as a cost to the defendants, Sowore and Bakare.

The defence counsel, Mahmud, told the court that what the prosecutor served on them was the summary statement of the four witnesses, insisting on being served the full statements.
The defence counsel further argued that since the prosecutor has his evidence on tape, he wants him to provide the tape to be played in the open court; however, the prosecutor requested that he requires two weeks to provide a DVD player to present the evidence.
Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu after hearing all sides, adjourned the case to the 11th, 12th and 13th of March for definite trial.
