Sweating profusely can be a sign of these health conditions

Sweating is normal and sometimes it can be as a result of being stressed out. Other times, it can be as a result of being under a very hot sun. While sweating is good because it removes excesses from our body if it is too much, it can be a result of some health conditions. These health conditions would require us to see our doctors so they can have a proper look.

According to experts, when you’re sweating profusely one of the listed health conditions below might be happening. You just need to see your doctor.

Stress: This is a very common reason why you might be sweating a lot. If you overwork yourself you would sweat. The more stressed you are, the more you’re likely to sweat especially if you’re working under a hot sun.

A Thyroid problem: Another reason one could be sweating can be as a result of Hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland becomes overactive and begins to produce too much thyroid hormone. When this happens, the body processes are sped up and you begin to sweat a lot. You may also experience weight loss.

Low blood sugar: This is another reason for sweating excessively. When there is low blood sugar, you tend to sweat and experience ravenous hunger.

Hyperhidrosis: Excessive sweating in a single area of the body is called hyperhidrosis. The sweat can be in the arm, neck, armpits, palms of the hand or the soles of the feet. Though it is not life-threatening but can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. Hyperhidrosis is sometimes followed by irritation and painful skin conditions.

Other health conditions that could lead to profuse sweating are the side effects of medications or menopause.

Menopause happens with women and at this stage, they tend to sweat more. It feels like a pain coming from the chest up to the head.
