Tragedy in Riyadh: Vehicle fell off mountain slope, killed four, injured five
Tragedy hit Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Kingdom, at the weekend when a vehicle, conveying nine persons, slipped off the slope of a mountain in the west of the Riyadh. The accident claimed the lives of four persons, while five others sustain injuries. The Directorate of Civil Defense urgently deployed rescue team to the scene of the accident on Saturday to minimize the casualties, if can’t prevent any death.
The spokesman for the General Directorate of Civil Defense, Lt. Col. Muhammad Al-Hammadi, confirmed that the vehicle was conveying nine people. He disclosed that the five injured persons were airlifted to hospital for immediate medical treatment.
Lt. Col. Al-Hammadi stated that the Civil Defense rescue teams hurriedly drove to the vicinity immediately information on the accident reached the Unified Security Operations Center.
He said the rescue teams recovered four dead bodies from the wreckage while they flew the five injured persons on board a security aviation aircraft to the hospital.
The spokesman for the General Directorate of Civil Defense appealed to citizens and residents to take precaution when engaging on pleasure travels to mountains and rugged terrains. Lt. Col. Al-Hammadi encouraged the public to call the emergency telephone number 911 in the Makkah and Riyadh regions and 998 in other regions of the Kingdom whenever there is any need for emergency assistance in any part of the kingdom.
