Update: Bayo Lawal succeeds impeached Deputy Gov Olaniyan
A new deputy governor, Bayo Lawal, has been appointed to replace the impeached Rauf Olaniyan in Oyo State.
The Oyo State House of Assembly on Monday confirmed the nomination of Bayo Lawal to replace Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan impeached also on Monday.
The legislators impeached former Deputy Governor Olaniyan on allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
The lawmakers after considering the recommendation of the seven-man panel appointed by the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Munta Abimbola, which investigated Olaniyan on allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office, passed a resolution on the impeachment of the deputy governor. The lawmakers declared that the impeachment takes immediate effect.
