Liverpool defeated Chelsea in the penalty shoot-out of the Carabao Cup final after 120 minutes of normal and extra time.

Here are two controversial decisions that contributed to the defeat.

1. VAR Offside decision on Romelu Lukaku: The Belgian international who has been out of form scored an exceptional goal against Liverpool in extra time. But the goal was ruled out for offside. Football fans around the world are not certain that he was offside.

Looking at the photo above, it is arguable that Romelu Lukaku wasn’t offside because the rule was adjusted to accommodate some part of the hand. I think that the goal should have stood because the line was drawn in a weird position.

2. The harsh challenge on Chalobah: The Liverpool midfielder launched a harsh challenge on Chalobah during the game. I think it is quite unusual that he got away with such a challenge.

Looking at the photo above, it is arguable that the Liverpool midfielder was supposed to be sent off for such a harsh challenge, but he wasn’t. I think it was a clear and obvious error by the officiating officials.

In conclusion, I think that it was an interesting game, and we hope that the officials would improve and provide valid explanations for their decisions going forward.
