2023: How Adamu may become Amaechi’s “secret weapon” if Amaechi contests APC presidencial ticket
Although Rotimi Amaechi has not voiced his intention to join the 2023 presidential race yet, there are, however, strong speculations that the Minister of Transportation is eyeing the highest office in the Land.
Recall that Governor Nasir El-Rufai had in an interview with Channels TV, said he would only run for the 2023 presidency either as a presidential aspirant or a running mate to Rotimi Amaechi if President Buhari insists.
The statement made by the governor of Kaduna State was interpreted by many to mean that Amaechi may run for president. This article highlights why Senator Adamu Abdullahi may be Amaechi’s Trump Card or ‘Secret Weapon’ in the likely event that he joins the 2023 race to Aso Rock
According to report, Senator Adamu Abdullahi who is one of those aspiring to become APC National Chairman is Buhari’s ‘anointed candidate’ for the position. If this report is true, with Buhari’s support it can be argued that Senator Adamu is the favourite to clinch the position.
According to report, Amaechi was the one who convinced Senator Adamu to contest for the APC National Chairmanship position. The report also said Amaechi promised to use his resources to ensure that Adamu got the support of President Buhari. In return, Adamu would be amenable to Amaechi’s interest when he becomes chairman of the party
In Nigerian politics, a party chairman often has influence in candidate selections. If Adamu eventually wins the National Chairmanship position and Amaechi decides to run for the presidency, he will do all within his power as National Chairman to ensure that Amaechi gets the APC’s 2023 presidential ticket.
